The inspiration for The First Ride was his childhood memory of the Herschell Spillman carousel belonging to a traveling carnival that visited his town every year. Characteristic of James Homer Brown's style, the artwork is rich in color and design with vibrant pinks and reds.
The prints were produced in a quantity of 900 and many were sold around the globe, from Maine to New Zealand. Each print will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the artist's estate. Prints will ship flat.
James Homer Brown created colorful oil paintings for over sixty years, starting when he was very young. His subjects included colorful carousels, science fiction aliens and geometric abstracts. He painted on either canvas or Masonite. He received numerous awards including Second Place for the Annual Gold Medal Show held at the prestigious and historic Scarab Club in metro Detroit. His geometric abstracts were owned by one of the world's top art collectors. In his later years, he was the Artist in Residence at an art gallery in Royal Oak, Mi.
