I purchased a package of 10 pair of these sleeves to use doing yardwork and had a couple pair I never used.  My main reason was for an extra layer of protection while working among poison ivy, which I am very allergic to.  I usually wear these under a long sleeve shirt, but at times have worn just the sleeve.
