for sale here is this complete recap kit for the Kenwood KT-5500 tuner (or the European KT-5550). This kit includes 23 capacitors to replace all electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in the KT-5500 or KT-5550. The new capacitors are all Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Wima film, and Panasonic FC, at the same capacitance as the original caps and the same or higher voltage rating.
Is your KT-5500 FM stereo light not illuminating? This is a common problem with the KT-5500. All you need to do is gently nudge the farthest-right trimmer on the PC board, and it should come back in. The second picture in this listing shows which trimmer to nudge. It would be a good idea to hit that trimmer with a tiny bit of Deoxit D5 or a similar contact cleaner as well.

The kit comes with surprisingly well-written instructions, and this is a fairly simple recap job, but you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron. Please see my pictures for details.
