Cabinet is made of wood with no top & a sliding front panel.  Each side of cabinet has a hole for a long (20 penny) nail, almost 8 inches long.  Also, a metal washer is used.  Panel removed to show empty cabinet and all around.  The nail and  washer may be examined. The nail is inserted into holes with both ends  of nail being exposed, beyond sides of cabinet.  Replace the front panel.  Pick up the washer and visibly drop it into the top of cabinet.  (They see the washer fall from your hand which is otherwise empty).  Washer is heard to hit the nail.  Upon removal of panel, the washer is seen on the nail.  You may walk over to front row and a member of the audience examine and remove the washer from nail.  The spectator may come forward and do this in front of the audience.    Cabinet is 5" by 5 1/2" square]      ~     This is a clever departure of methods for penetrations of this type.  Easy to do, no palming!
