In the Chinese culture, the chrysanthemum signifies a life of ease.

Buddhists are fond of using this flower as offerings on alters.

Symbolic of powerful Yang Energy this flower is an attractant of good luck in the home.

Pair of what what was a pair of Fabulous Antique Chinese Hand Painted Cylindrical Chrysanthemum Vases on Carved WOOD Bases.

At some point some Bonehead decided to make these into lamps. The owner (in her late 70's) said her parents bought these in Hawaii in the early 1930's and they sat on the mantle until her father had them made into lamps. They were wired with Silk cord then her Husband "redid" them with some REALLY CHEAP wire in the 1980's. These will need to be re-wired.

I'm really not an expert but I assume these are pre-1900 and wreak of high style and quality. A friend said they were Qing Dynasty but I make No claims to that fact.

NO damage issues whatsoever; No chips, flea bites, cracks, crazing or fading. They are as found. the owner put some scotch tape on the top for some reason so these could use a good cleaning but I don't like to mess with stuff.

You can tell the the Brass caps were professionally and well made and slide into the Cylinders with a push switch on the top of the brass.

I would either rewire them or take them off and use these as a KILLER pair of LARGE at over 16 inches tall and 19 inches in diameter cylindrical Vase.

Now I didn't take these apart to see if they are marked; but the whole thing comes unscrewed and move freely so they are not glued anywhere. HEAVY and substantial and exquisite colors and Hand Painting with super proportions.
