Характеристики

I believe this to be Filipino. It dates from late to post WWII.

16-3/8" blade, 21-3/8" OAL. Blade is billet steel, tapering from 1/4" thick at the hilt, 2" wide.  Chisel beveled on left side. Well patinated but no deep pits. Some recent surface corrosion (appears brown). The tip shows signs of resharpening.

Hilt is 5", buffalo horn with an iron collar. The horn has some cracks and delaminations typical for age.  Collar is brazed.

Scabbard is two lames of dark wood.  The tip cover is interlock-fastened tortoise shell held in place with nailed brass bands, with a small amount of dot repousse on the tip band. The shell is worn but with no significant cracks.  The throat cover is interlock-fastened leather secured with a nailed brass band top, and a nailed brass band bottom, where part of the wrap becomes a belt or sash frog. The throat band is in rough shape, battered and with missing nails.  The exposed wood between the wraps has a worn opening that exposes the blade on draw. There are some longitudinal cracks under the throat wrap.

The blade draws easily with a little tightness toward the swell.
