Offered is a beautiful antique 1800s era Guitar and wooden coffin case
The guitar is not signed and there are no maker's labels or markings
I was told that it may be a Vienna or Markneukirchen guitar
It does look a lot like the Stauffer branded guitars that are for sale by Martin
The guitar has a fancy engraved Fender style head stock, the inside is lined in spruce
The back has a few shrink cracks that run with the grain, the the top has some cracks as shown
The guitar has a crack repair on one side that is tight and flush,
there are wood cleats on the inside, this looks well done and strong with no flex or distraction
The measurement across the lower bout is approx. 11 1/2",
the middle pinch is 6 7/8", the upper measurement is approx. 8 1/2"
The back is 17 1/2" tall to the underside of the neck's heel button,
It is approx. 3 1/2" wide at the upper curve, and 3 3/4" at the guitar's bottom
The underside of the top is ladder braced, the bridge looks like real ivory set into a dovetail shape slot
The nut and bottom strap peg also looks like ivory, the strap peg has mother of pearl in the center
The head stock is attached with a V shape joint to the neck
, When I put new nylon strings on I noticed the v joint is slightly loose but does not affect anything
The string tension pulls the V joint together, this connection was very well made
The guitar stays in tune perfectly even when not played for months
The string height is low, at the 12th fret the strings are just a hair above the thickness of a camera sd card
The neck is straight right up to where it joins the body and from there it has a Very slight slant down
There is no buzzing on any frets, this guitar it surprisingly loud for the size and it plays excellent,
The coffin case has a lock and key, the bottom latch hasp is missing the turn clasp
The "label" on the case's compartment lid reads; "I have loved thee with an everlasting love"
This guitar is fun to play, the spruce interior gives it a bright and long lasting sound
Ebay limits the quantity of pictures I can add to 12 so I grouped them to add more photos and details
the pictures should Magnify with the Ebay enlargement feature (if hovered over with the mouse pointer) they are in large jpg format
If they do not in large you can right click and save the images to your computer where you can view the pictures full size
This guitar is likely to be well over 150 years old and it is still great sounding and perfectly playable!
It is a beautiful finely made instrument, I will consider your Reasonable offer
The shipping price is to the the lower 48 states,
Alaska and Hawaii may cost more, (I can look up the actual amount.)
