These horns are somewhat underappreciated in my estimation. One that is properly set-up will deliver a sweet, warm tone and when in the hands of a vintage stylist, it instantly transports the listener back to the Swing era.

This particular horn has likely been relacquered. (I'm not an expert on spotting them; the engraving seems a bit filled in etc. Let's assume it has been and, if I'm wrong, that's a bonus!) There's wear and minor pitting on almost every key as well as a 1 1/2" spot where the middle brace meets the bell.

The good news is, it's complete and absent of any significant dents or signs of past trauma. The pads and corks are fresh and the horn must have been recently maintained (10 - 15 years ago?). I can make that statement based on visual inspection and the fact that there's a sticker on the case from a local shop called "Meridian Winds". They were located at that address up until that time. In fact, the pads look even newer than that...

It could use adjusting and regulating of course. A gentleman was just playing it in our shop and having a little difficulty getting the lower register to speak. Again, all of the important things needed to make this a beautiful playing and sounding horn are present and accounted for.

The case is a little rough and musty but interesting. It's a "tri-pack" style that we don't see very often.
