Duncan History

Duncan was originally a small trading post. Native American were the first to inhabit the area. William Duncan, after whom the city is named, was the first permanent settler in the area. The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad first arrived on June 27, 1892. Duncan became the county seat of Stephens County in the early 1900s.
