Mid Century Modern 24" TELEFUNKEN CONCERTINO 5384w STEREO Tube Radio + Manual

Although the radio is not currently working, it is as much to be appreciated as a mid-century modern decor statement as it is a radio.  To the right collector, this would certainly be an awesome starting point for a restoration as the cabinet, face plate, and knobs are in such great condition.  There are only a couple of small corner dings at the very extremities of the wood cabinet, and there is one piece of gold trim missing along the under side of the top edge of the cabinet, which makes it almost not noticeable because of the shade of the overhanging cabinet edge.  You should be warned that it although it looks great, it does have an easily apparent odor of cigarette smoke, so it was probably owned by a smoker, so it will need to be cleaned.

This post war West German tube radio has a beautiful large (24"x 14"x 9") heavy cabinet in excellent condition.  This is a Concertino Stereo model 5384W (according to the manual - whereas the markings on the back of the radio are a bit faded).

Electrical Condition: This is an awesome estate sale find.  Although the radio is currently not working, the cabinet has been treated so well (other than having a cigarette odor) that you would think that the item was properly handled throughout it's over 50 year history. When plugging it in, there is no sound at all, no humming as you might expect from an early transformer, etc.  So maybe it needs a transformer, or something to get the power flowing.  The visible portion of the cool external fuse appears to be in tact, so if it has a fuse issue, it is at least probably not that fuse.  The tuner knobs feel great and are connected to the internal mechanisms as spinning them moves the scale indicator.  The push buttons on the bottom mostly seem to work as intended, with maybe one of two that might stick a little or not press all the way down or pop up, but they are not completely limp or lose without feedback as would be expected if they were obviously broken.  Because the radio is so complete and such a great looking cabinet, this really would be a great piece to restore.  If you can tell me what to look for, I will be glad to open up the back and take more photos if you are a serious restorer.

Internal Component Observations: I added some pictures of the inside of the radio. It looks to be fairly complete, at least my untrained eye did not see anything amiss. I see at least 8 tubes, maybe one or two more under the transformer area that I can't see very well. The portion of the cones of the larger speakers that I can see are not showing any visible issues as far as can be seen through the rear access holes. They still feel springy to the touch, and not limp or completely blown out concerning the backside of the cones (i did not remove them or the front panel to inspect the front of the cones). There are some kind of plastic rings that would hold the dipole wound antenna that appear to have dried out and broken off which left that antenna flopping loose. So rather than having that flopping around and hurting any tubes, I zip tied it in place for safety in transit. Also, before closing it up I will pack all of the tube areas with some kind of padding for shipping. Probably bubble wrap unless the buyer feels that would cause any undesirable static ?

I made sure that the unit had power to the back and verified it was turned to 115v which it already was, and still no sound or hum, but no heat or smoke either (so that is good). So maybe something needs replacing in the power transformer or a fuse or something else. I also noticed that the OFF button likes to stay down (which depressed would presumably be OFF) and not pop up as would be expected, so maybe there's a problem in the switch to turn it on. Jiggling that switch or others also does not get any response. So other than my fastening down the antenna as mentioned above the internal components appear to be all of the same original vintage. You can see a number of tubes that are marked with the awesome Telefunken logo.
