Description
Offered for your consideration is a vintage, solid wood, advertising yardstick for Leinhardt Bros. of York, Pennsylvania which were located in the 200 block of West Market Street. Known as "The Friendly Furniture Store", the stick lists Kroehler furniture, Simmons bedding, Kelvinator appliances and Mohawk carpets. It displays a 5 digit phone number, so, we would guess, that the piece is from the mid 1900s. Perhaps the most interesting point of this yardstick is the reference to child rearing. Appearing on the stick is the following: 'DO NOT USE ON THE LITTLE ONE -TOMORROW- HE WILL BE THE BIG ONE'. The item is in very good as found used condition, showing some use and handling, with all of the graphics clear and legible. It measure 36" in 1/8" increments and is 1 3/4" wide. It has a weight of 10 ounces and will have a shipping weight of 1 pound 6 ounces . A very nice addition for the local historian or the advertising collector. Auctions can be combined to save on shipping. Thank you for viewing our listing.
