Offered for your consideration is the 1940 map "Kaltenborn's New War Map" Published by The Pure Oil Company in 1940.  At the time of the map's publication the United States had not entered the war in Europe, this map shows "The Danger Spots".  H.V. Kaltenborn, who was very famous and known as the "Dean of Commentators", aired his first radio broadcast on April 6, 1940 for Pure Oil on NBC's Red Network after 13 years on the Columbia Network.  Pure Oil was a Midwest supplier, but was a sponsor on National radio.  Kaltenborn was the pioneer of radio journalism, the first newscaster to offer commentaries on the events of the day. The Rand Mc Nally map of the world is soiled, nothing ugly but you can see it was followed closely and often.  No large tears, but 2 small worn areas at 2 folded corners, which are seen in the part of map showing Switzerland, please check photos.  There is no added marks or writing added to this original map which offers much information.  First Class postage will be $3.00 for anywhere in the United States.
