Kimberly was formed in 1946 by Jack and Helen Lazar and was trademarked in 1947 in New York. Their first product was wool sweaters and soon matching knit skirts were added. The company continued to develop new products made from double knit wool, including dresses, suits, and coats.

At first their garments were made from 100% wool, but they began making mixtures of wool and Dacron and Orlon in the 1950s (to prevent sagging). They were also a buyer of Paris originals, taking a couture dress and adapting it to knitwear. By the mid 1960s Kimberly was one of the largest privately owned clothing manufacturing companies in the US. Kimberly was acquired by General Mills Corporation in 1972, and the company was closed in 1979. Jack Lazar died in 1990 at the age of 79

American advertising offers insight into the decades that have come and gone and these magazine advertisements I have available are a chance to discover, one piece at a time, a much larger context at the last few generations collective interests and way of life, and what the values use to be.  Every culture has a fabric, and these snapshots in time are a way to understand a time that doesn't exist anymore, but survives only by the works or outcomes it has produced, such as paper print.

My magazines come from one source and are carefully examined for flaws before I even make the listing.  All paper I am selling is original not a reproduction.  I will do my best to provide a quality product, however the paper is vintage and there will be yellowing and occasional spots, but I will never send something that is ruined or torn, unless there is a small tear, which will be stated in the description.

When you purchase something from me, your product will be meticulously packaged flat, protected from bending and water.

I will be continuously adding inventory, so if you are browsing through my store and don't see something you are looking for immediately, I do not have it listed, however I probably have what you are looking for, just send me a message and I can sift through my stock and see if I can locate the particular item.
