The RMP 440 LE leverages all of the redundant safety features of the Segway® Personal Transporter (PT). The motor controllers and brushless DC drive motors are each fully redundant, allowing component failures to be handled smoothly and safely.

Five lithium-ion batteries provide a run time of ~8 hours of operation or ~24 hours in standby. To charge the batteries, simply connect the charger cable.

Enclosure

The RMP 440 LE’s large enclosure provides 3 channels of DC power (5 V, 12 V and 24 V default) for powering equipment. It also includes an integrated charger and ample space for additional equipment.

Rugged

The RMP 440 LE can operate indoors and out in a wide range of weather conditions and over a variety of terrains. It is designed to meet IP66/NEMA 4 standards and all its military grade bulkhead connectors are rated for Severe Wind and Moisture Problem (SWAMP) areas. It can wade through water up to 250mm (standard configuration) or 400mm (inverted gearboxes), operate in temperatures of 0-50° C and traverse slopes up to 30°.

Powerful

With a maximum velocity of 8.0 m/s (18 mph) and a peak torque of 100 Nm per wheel, the RMP 440 LE is capable of moving incredibly fast. This means there’s plenty of head room to perform flawlessly with payloads up to 90 kg (200 lbs). In situations where turn-in-place capability is not required, the RMP can carry payloads up to 180 kg (400 lbs).

One Interface, Many Mobility Platforms

Segway’s entire line of RMPs share a single communications structure. This makes it easy to change mobility platforms, even at a late stage in development. If your requirements change you don’t have to worry about rewriting your control software; simply swap one RMP for another and keep going.
