BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH
Julius Caesar Assassination Prophecy Button
A 1.25” button with the famous prophecy, Beware the Ides of March, most commonly known from the William Shakespeare play.
The Roman general Julius Caesar, became a dictator after causing a civil war. He was assassinated by conspiring members of the Roman senate, notably including Marcus Brutus, on March 15 in 44 BCE. His rule, and murder, effectively ended the Roman republic—and changed the course of history.
Shakespeare dramatized the assassination (and its aftermath) of Julius Caesar in his play. A soothsayer warns Caesar to “Beware the Ides of March.”
