Parts found in Athearn's warehouse, these were made during or just after the Blue Box era, but before Athearn bought out Model Die Casting, and are now being offered as replacement wheel sets. Each plastic bag has 48 axles inside, so that's enough wheels for 12 freight cars, each having 4 axles. Handy item when modernizing higher capacity freight trucks to the newer 36" wheels. These are compatible with Roundhouse/MDC trucks; axles are non-magnetic. MDC trucks are just slightly narrower than Athearn trucks requiring a slightly shorter axle. If you have trucks where the wheels appear too tight, these may be just what you need. If you have a lot of dirty wheels on your freight cars, this would be a fast and easy way to remedy that situation. Clean wheels derail less often than very dirty ones. These wheels are sold in bulk and have not been tested to check their gauge, so we recommend you do that before installing and operating these. The photo of the NMRA gauge is included as an example of what to look for; it is NOT a part of this offer.
Modelers Tip: Make sure you test the gauge on these before installing them on your cars. If you don't have one of the NMRA Standards Gauges, go to you local hobby shop and ask them about purchasing one. Lacking that, you can order the gauge on Ebay or that place named for a river in South America.
