This sale is for a can motor flywheel upgrade kit for large or articulated HO scale brass steam locomotives made or imported by PFM, Akane, Hallmark, Tenshodo, United, Balboa, Alco Models, KMT, Samhongsa, Sunset, and others. This motor kit is intended to replace the old-style open frame motor. This motor kit will provide better low speed operation, A LOWER TOP SPEED and reduced operating noise. This motor kit will only work in models that have a gearbox.

I recommend this motor kit for brass 2-8-2 and larger brass steam locomotives as well as brass articulated steam locomotives. If you need a motor kit for a 2-8-0 or smaller brass steam locomotive, please check my other auctions.

The motor measures 18mm wide x 18mm high x 30mm long. The motor shaft measures 16mm long and it is 2mm in diameter. There are 2 solder terminals on the rear of the motor for electrical connections. The flywheel measures 16mm in diameter and it is 13 mm long and it is bored for a 2mm shaft. The flywheel shaft is 2mm in diameter and it is 19mm long. I suggest that you measure the motor in your locomotive and compare it to the measurements listed here to see if this motor will fit in your locomotive before purchasing this kit.

 This motor has a 6-pole armature and it has very high torque. With 12 volts DC applied, this motor draws 40ma with no load and develops 7250 rpm, the stall current is 1 amp. This motor will start turning smoothly on 3/4 volt DC, and it is DCC compatible. This motor is silent when operating.

The photo shows what the motor kit would look like installed on an HO scale Akane SP cab forward chassis and a United ATSF 2-10-4 chassis. PLEASE NOTE! The chassis that are shown in the photos ARE NOT included with the motor kit. The motor kit consists of 1 can motor, 1 flywheel, 1 flexible coupling, 1 flywheel shaft, hook up wire, and installation instructions. Photo 3 shows the contents of the motor kit. What you see in photo 3 is what you will receive. This is an unassembled kit.
